The First Tee Allan Mitchell Endowment
The Allan Mitchell Endowment Fund’s purpose is to help ensure the long-term financial sustainability of First Tee – South Central Wisconsin to carry out its mission; to impact the lives of young people and their families by providing educational programs for youth that build character, instill life-enhancing values, and promote healthy choices through the game of golf.
First Tee – South Central Wisconsin believes in fostering a community where all kids, regardless of socio-economic background, are given the opportunity to dream and work for a better future. Our programs empower youth and propel them towards high school graduation, post-secondary education, mentoring opportunities, internships, employment, and competitive golf opportunities. We do this by providing a myriad of activity-based and academic programming options, national educational academies, strong mentor relationships, life-skills education, and equipped golf facilities and classrooms that challenge participants to discover and develop their hidden talents and potential.
The endowment’s sustainable funds will help in the following ways:
- Furnish classrooms and golf courses with equipment
- Train mentors/volunteers to support program delivery activities
- Provide academic program delivery and program impact analytics
- Award scholarships for post-secondary education
- Ensure quality delivery of summer and winter programming
The fund is named in honor of the late Allan Mitchell, who taught and mentored countless juniors through golf in Madison, WI. Allan was the head golf professional at Nakoma Golf Club from 1964-2000 where he spearheaded an impactful junior program. He embodied the virtues and life skills that the First Tee instills in their participants. The endowment will ensure that the organization has the resources in perpetuity to carry Allan’s legacy of impacting youth through the game of golf in the greater Madison community.
