First Tee – South Central Wisconsin is pleased to offer programs at all Madison Parks courses (Monona, The Glen Golf Park, Odana Hills, Yahara Hills), along with affiliate locations throughout our service area. Depending on programming location, sessions include a mix of on-course play and instructional time designed to help participants develop and apply their skills. Please reference details on each location and its setup in the sections below.

Lesson days are structured to begin with a 10-minute warm-up focused on strength, flexibility/mobility, agility/coordination, balance, and object control, while also introducing and discussing the core value of the week. Following the warm-up, participants engage in two 20-minute golf activities that focus on full swing and short game development. Each session concludes with a group game that encourages collaboration while reinforcing golf skills and core value traits.
Play days provide participants with the opportunity to take their skills on the course. Guided by mentor volunteers, participants play 9 holes while learning character development, golf etiquette, rules of golf, order of play, and scorekeeping. First time participants start 25 yards from the green. As they improve and shoot a score of 45 or better, they progressively move back in 50-yard increments until they reach the tee boxes.
Note that classes are divided by age. Allowable ages for each class go outside of ages listed in class titles to allow for mid-summer birthdays. Please register your child according to the class they will be most comfortable in.
John Flesch Golf & Academic Center

First Tee – South Central Wisconsin’s John Flesch Golf & Academic Center is a dedicated learning facility that combines golf instruction with academic and life skills development. As a central hub for First Tee – South Central WI programming, it provides a safe, inclusive environment where participants can grow both on and off the course.
Lesson days at the John Flesch Golf & Academic Center are offered for participants of all ages, with a primary focus on those enrolled in The Glen Golf Park classes and younger participants ages 5-6. These sessions introduce foundational golf skills in a fun, supportive setting while building confidence and comfort with the game.

Odana Hills

Odana Hills Golf Course is a public course located on the west side of Madison, known for its walkable layout and welcoming environment for golfers of all skill levels. As a First Tee – SCW summer programming site, it provides an accessible space for participants to learn, practice, and build confidence on the course.
This class is designed for participants ages 7-18 of all skill levels and meets twice a week on Mondays and Thursdays. Mondays focus on 60-minute instructional lessons, while Thursdays are dedicated to play days, where participants head onto the course to play nine holes with guidance from a mentor.

Yahara Hills

Yahara Hills Golf Course is a public course located on the east side of Madison, offering a welcoming and accessible environment for golfers of all skill levels. As a program location of First Tee – South Central WI, it serves as a key location for summer programming.
This class is designed for our participants 13+ years of age who are looking for more advanced instruction. This is a two day class hosted Wednesdays and Fridays which consist of a 30-45 minute lesson and nine holes on the course.
Participants continue building character while developing their golf skills. They gain experience applying what they’ve learned in on-course situations, both on the course and in everyday life.

The Glen Golf Park

The Glen Golf Park is a short course designed to be fun, flexible, and accessible for all ages and abilities. As part of First Tee – SCW programming, it serves as a great space for participants to build confidence, practice skills, and enjoy the game in a relaxed setting.
Classes at The Glen take place once a week on Tuesdays and are structured as play days. Participants head onto the course with a mentor to play 9 holes while gaining on-course experience and building their skills. To add a lesson day, please refer to sessions offered on Mondays at the John Flesch Golf & Academic Center.

Guidelines:
- If your child qualifies for free and reduced lunch, they are eligible to receive an 80% subsidy for any program
- If there is financial hardship (regardless of eligibility for free and reduced lunch) your child may also be qualify
- Note that only summer programming fees are eligible for financial assistance
